Astronomers thought that the positions of celestial bodies revealed what was going to happen on Earth. They were seen as Omens for Wars, Births, Deaths, & Fortune, Good or Bad...

People were often terrified when the sun would seem to disappear completely during the day. They had no foresight into the timing of an eclipse. It must have been like the entrance of the Grim Reaper... very scary indeed.

SOLAR ECLiPSE 1999

On Wednesday 11th of August 1999, at 11 minutes past 11am the Cornish Pagan HeartLand will witness an event that hasn't been seen in England since June 1927... the UMBRA of a TOTAL SOLAR ECLiSPE

Here, in the Ely outpost we are have to make do with a 90% Eclipse which puts us in the PenUmbral Region.
OMEN-As we approach this important Calendar LandMark of 2000 the Pagans of Ely concede that this is Fair Celestial Indication that it is Cornwall, and not Ely that is shown to be the Pagan Capital of England.

A Solar Eclipse can only happen during a NEW MOON. 
NEXT TOTAL SOLAR ECLiPSEs - 2001 June 21 2002 December 4 
A forty-mile stretch of the Atlantic coast of Africa, just north of Lobito, Angola, experiences totality twice in 18 months. The June 21st eclipse occurs just 4.5 hours after the solstice (winter in the Southern Hemisphere). The December 4th eclipse track passes 50 miles south of Victoria Falls in Africa, ending at sunset on the southern coast of Australia on the shoreline of the Great Australian Bight, near the Yalata Aboriginal Reserve. 
LUNAR ECLiPSE 2000
Lunar Eclipses occur when the Moon passes into the shadow of the Earth and the Moon becomes dull and REDish in colour. 

Lunar Eclipses can be full or partial and can only happen on a Full Moon.

Lunar Eclipse can be used for added Spiritual Invokation on Full Moon Rituals. 

The next total lunar eclipse will happen 2000 January 21 -- A will be visible from all of North and South America and Europe, lasting for 1 hour and 18 minutes. A good night for Witches & Wizards..! 
WATCH-OUT FOR THE LEONiD METEORS..!
The Leonid meteors caused the greatest meteor shower on record on the night spanning Nov. 16 to 17, 1966. These meteors occur only every 33 1/4 years. So should be happening in February 2000 - The FULL MOON falls around the 19th of February.
